| The degree programme (BA) in Dance 180 credits | |
| The aim of the degree programme in dance is to equip students with a wide range of basic skills enabling them to participate in the field of contemporary dance, as well as laying the foundations for earning a higher degree. Our objective is to educate dance artists whose professional skills develop from an understanding of dance as a cultural art practice in which body and mind, science and art, meet. The goal is that students perceive themselves as performers and artists in relation to discourses concerning broader humanity. The three-year bachelor degree programme in dance is worth 180 credits. Studies consist of dance technique classes, dance workshops, somatic methods, music, dance history, performance theory and theatre studies. Students primarily study contemporary dance with improvisation and composition forming a key part of the studies. The study of choreographiy and improvisation also supports the discovery and development of one´s own movement vocabulary. A major part of the studies is made up of performances and the creative processes that lead to them. |
In addition to compulsory studies common to all degree programmes, students take 14 credits worth of elective studies during the three-year programme. Electives studies are available in the areas of dancers’ work, choreography, pedagogy and performance theory. In the spring term of the third year, students undertake their own project that can focus on dancers’ work, choreography or another artistic endeavour that may be related to the themes selected by students during their elective studies. The bachelor thesis is in the form of a portfolio reflecting on the whole of the studies and is worth six credits. Degree Programme (BA) BA Credits |
